Koen Hauser (b.

1972, the Netherlands) is an artist who works with photography as a starting point, in an artistic practice that revolves around the relations between the way he processes photographic material and psychological and philosophical themes.
Whilst some photographs are concerned only with its aesthetic appeal, others cast aside this preoccupation to forefront the idea behind the image.
Regardless of purpose or context, Hauser’s work is always underpinned by his education in Social Psychology, entwining philosophy, mythology, animism, religion and spirituality into his work in a metaphysical manner.
Hauser finished his Masters of Science in Social Psychology (1996, Rijksuniversiteit Leiden), later followed by studying photography at the Royal Academy of Art and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy (2002).
