Santhosh Echikkanam is a popular contemporary writer associated with Malayalam literature.  He writes novels, poems and short stories and many of his works have been adapted to Malayalam silver screen.

He has also co-scripted a few Malayalam films like Nidra in 2012. Many of his screenplays have been commercially and critically successful. In 2008 his short story Komala earned him Kerala Sahitya Academy Award in the short story section. He became popular through his short stories which tell tales of common people.

His story – Idukki Gold has been adapted to silver screen by Aashiq Babu with the same title and the movie received positive reviews.

He wrote the story and screenplay for highly acclaimed and commercial hit movies like Chandrettan Evideya (2015), Njan Steve Lopez (2014) and Annayum Rasoolum (2013).
