Madeleine Carolyn Carroll, an Anglo-American actress, was born on February 26, 1906, in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England.
She received her education at the University of Birmingham.
Rise to Stardom in Britain
Carroll made her film debut in a British production in 1928 and quickly gained recognition for her portrayal of an aristocratic blonde. By the early 1930s, she had appeared in popular British films such as "Atlantic," "School for Scandal," and "I Was a Spy." In 1931, she took a brief hiatus from acting after marrying Captain Philip Astley.
